Ok, I went to put the lower intake manifold on and it wouldn't fit with the grounding strap installed into the block, so I removed it and now I can't get the grounding strap back on. Anyone have to modify their grounding strap? There is another hole below the one the grounding strap was attached to the block in, is it possible to move it and use the lower hole?
Also having heck of a time tightening rear two lower intake manifold bolts, the proximity to the starter motor and the wiring harneses that go with it prevent me from getting a wrench in there, and a socket won't fit. Any ideas?
Thanks for the help.

I don't recall any issues with grounding straps. The lower manifold bolts are well documented PIAs. I used a 12mm crows foot with various extensions and swivel to do them.

Bogey is right. Either a 12mm crows foot or a 1/4" drive shallow wobble socket.
You can connect that ground strap most anywhere convenient on the block.

I have installed my manifold 3 times so far, unless I lost count, and it doesn't get any easier with practice. The last time, I propped a mirror on the ledge behind the engine and I could see the nut, put on by deft 2 finger fumbling, to put the crow's foot on. It takes some backwards thinking to get it on the correct starting position (righty tighty) in the mirror. That accounted for several minutes of wasted time. It seemed to help once I reversed my brain.
The problem comes in trying to get a torque wrench in there. (OK, I didn't get a torque wrench in there.)
For Tom: I don't remember a ground strap in that neighborhood either (unless it is part of the upper wiring harness attachments but it sounds as if it is something underneath he is referring to). Is an '01+ different or am I missing a ground?

Bought a pack of crows feet and that did the trick. Got the blower in and now I'm trying to get the EGR crossover tube to mate back up on the drivers side, what a pain, the joint is actually under the exhaust manifold heat shield so I had to take that off, but the pipe just doesn't seem to want to reach.....
