How many coldsiders with 01-05 are there? Including both pre-FFS and FFS.
How many are running PC versus ELF?
Has anyone run both PC & ELF? What differences have you noticed?
TIA

If memory serves me, there are six all together.
My 05 runs on the JRPC. Not sure I'll actually get the ELF+ that I was promised but then, I don't think anyone else will either. It runs just fine on the JRPC. VVT only appears to cause any stumble whole the oil is cold as that slows the response of the VVT. I believe two have the ELF and four have the JRPC, There were three BRP systems and three FFS systems and I believe only two of the BRP systems opted for the ELF. Could be wrong there. At most it would be 3/3.
We ran the PC vs. ELF on a 99 but I don't think anyone has with the 01-05. At lower WHP the ELF allows the fuel to be turned down. As we run 190+ WHP, I don't think it would make a difference.

As far as BRP 01+ kits:
Banshee (ELF)
Startosteve (ELF)
Kyp (ELF)
Petermooney (ELF)
Those are the one that I'm aware of.

Then there are 7 and it is 4 ELF and 3 JRPC.

I'm here ('02 w/JRPC). Stumbling around on cold oil (I think) :D
PS: Tom, I ordered the Goodwin Cat/Midpipe

are you going to dyno post midpipe install?

I hope so. He found a place just 20 minutes from his house. I would think he would be around 195-200.

2001 Original Coldside.
I put a JRPC in for awhile when I thought I had a bad ELF. It ran super rich in boost (10:1 or worse) as did the ELF when P3 was at a high setting. I run with P3 at about 2 I think on the ELF. I do have a wideband so I can be more sure of what is going on.

I think I will try to dyno it after I do the Goodwin midpipe. I'll need some advice on what my technique should be so I get an accurate read but don't fry my stock clutch.
I'm still getting used to the setup though. Went for a decent ride today and it seems the stumbling I've been experiencing in the 2-3K rpm range goes away after the Oil is all warmed up.
It's a funny thing, you get so used to how a car used to drive and then now it's a whole new game. I'd say third gear is the one I'm totally having to re-aquaint myself with. 1st and second gear just go by very fast.

When you are on the dyno, the operator will give you the nod and you go very easily 1,2,3 and then into fourth at about 2500 RPM. Then hold it there and he will start the recording, give you the second nod and you stuff your foot to the floor and keep it there until it hits the fuel cutoff. Scary the first time you do it as it feels way different on the dyno when it hits fuel cutoff than it does on the street. Then push in the clutch, put it in neutral and let the clutch out until the dyno stops. Do NOT use the brakes. :) The car is strapped down and the roller ways 2200 pounds. It is REAL hard on your tires and brakes to try and stop that roller. :)
BTW, it is fourth on a five speed and fifth on a six speed that you will do the run in. Kind of fun.

Tom What is this rumbling with the oil I read about in the 2 to 3 K RPM range since mine is not running yet,Can I use 5w20 instead of 10w30 like I have been using and will it help at all?

I wouldn't worry too much about it. It occurs only when the oil is cold. Not sure dropping to a 5Wx would help. The problem has to do with the 01-05 VVT (Variable Valve Timing). Mazda controls that with oil pressure and flow. It is slow to respond when hot but not a bad problem. When cold, it is very slow to respond and causes a stumble as you come off idle and into low boost. Problem typically lasts only a couple minutes. You could try the 5W30 and let us know. In any case, it wouldn't hurt back there. Out here, where we put a sweater on if it drops below 90F, it's a different story.
