When I bought the 10AE in 2002, it came with 205/45-16 Pilot SX. Great traction, great turn-in, noisey, had the 65MPH shake.

I replaced them with 205/45-16 Dunlop SP9000. Great traction, great turn-in, relatively quiet until they got old and hard, great turn-in, no 65 MPH shake.

When those were done I was also tired of the rims so, I bought Kosie K1-TS in 15x7 and went with GoodYear GSD3 in 205/50-15. Great traction, slower turn-in, quiet until old and hard, no 65 MPH shake.

Ready t try something new, I replaced them with Bridgestone Potenza S03. I have to say that they had superb traction, great turn-in, SO LOUD they drove me nuts, 65MPH shake.

Back to Dunlop SP9000 in 225/50-15 this time. Again, great traction, great turn-in, quiet, no 65 MPH shake.

Current tires are the Toyo T-1R. Superb traction, turnin is improving, Quietest tire I ever had, 65 MPH shake. Those are what is on the car in the tire test video.

I am currently looking for a set of track only tires and would love input. I don't AX (although I would love to get into that) so I would prefer track tires. Hoosiers seem to be great competitive tires but only last a weekend or two. Not sure about the life of Kumho V-710 but they also look like a great tire. Also on the list is the Toyo RA-1. Sugestions welcome.

I think the RA-1 is the spec miata tire choice. On a lightweight car , I bet the mileage is pretty good for R-compound tires.

Hoosiers and Kumho 710's may be a bit too soft if you plan on doing a bunch of track days.

I'm currently using the V700's for autocross only and I'll probably try the V710's next.

With no autox I'd start out with tyhe RA1's. A BIG step above the T1R and Dunlops, and will last a while. If you are still wanting for more after they're gone then look at the Kumhos. For goodness sake they're race tires and will be used up soon enough.

I'll order a set and try them this fall when I get back into racing. Thanks for the advice. I think I saw someplace that they were the official sponsor of Miatas for something? "One Lap"? I forget what it was. Senior moment or some such.

Tom,

Been looking for them myself. Edge racing was the best price I've found so far.

That's where I got my T1Rs. Great price. Great service. Anybody want a pair of BFG TA drag radials at a reasonable price? I have a set of 4 Kosie's but the TAs are using two of the rims.

I'm still using up the last of my carefully-stored Bridgestone RE-71's while I'm still in STS-2. When the Supercharger gets here and I move to SM I'm going to try a set of the 205/50 or 225/45-15 RA-1's... maybe on a set of Pro Race 2 wheels. Yes the AS Hoosiers are faster but I want to be able to drive to & from events and I've killed a few Hoosiers in my day by driving them on the street.

I'm a Toyo tire dealer so when you need your RA-1's give me a call.

You should post that down in the vendor section. I think there are lots of Toyo users around here.

BTW, this was my tire test for the T1r Toyos at Bondurant.

One one car I have second set of TOYO Proxes 4's that the car getting the SC and the other car has TOYO R 28'S BOTH REALLY GOOD PREFORMERS AND QUIET.They hang in there at the gap really well. As you know that is a very demanding road or it can be.

Well, I just dropped off the four rims and Toyo RA1's to get mounted. Anybody need a barely used pair of BFG TA Drag Radials? Probably no more than 12 runs down the strip. I guarantee they are sticky enough to break an axle. :)

Very tempting, but no thanks. I've become very fond of my axles.

I have always had good experiences with the Falken azenis RT series tires. The rt215 was a great performer for it's time, nothing in the street compound could touch it. And with it's new replacement, the rt615 the azenis name is only getting better. Superb traction in all aspects with great treadlife for a tire that wears like an Rcomp. I highly reccomend them!

I just finished a set of Azenis 215s ( 15,000 miles) . A great tire , but man were they LOUD!!!!!!!!

Since I have a tire tail and Kumhos for autocrossing, I decided to get something with a smoother ride, longer tread life and better standing water grip for those times when I get caught in heavy rain.

Goodyear Eagle Fl GSD3s.

What a nice tire! Quiet, smooth and very good wet/dry grip.

I have a set of Azenis on OEM 14" rims now. When they need replacing, I have a set of 15" OEM rims that I'll put Azenis RT615s on.
