Recently Chip in Cleveland had a problem with his blower. He removed it and sent it to Magnuson for warranty repair. This was the first one that they refused to repair under warranty. They have grumbled in the past but always came around to doing the warranty. Not this time. There reason, "Too much oil". Magnuson says that the unit is warranted for 100,000 miles or 3 years and requires ZERO maintenance. In other words, forget what was said in prior threads. DO NOT add oil. If it runs dry and dies, they will repair/replace it under warranty. If it has too much oil they will deny the claim. In Chips case, I paid the cost of the rebuild. If you have added oil to the fill hole, I suggest you drain some out.
Magnuson says it needs only about 4 ounces max. That will not bring it up to the fill hole. It takes about 8 ounces to get it there and that is too much. There is NO way to measure the oil than to drain it all out and add 4 ounces. I apologize for the confusion. The earlier advice was right from Magnuson a couple years ago but evidently they found that too much oil could create too much pressure and blow the seals. If you do need to send one back, drain the oil first and add back no more than 4 ounces.
