Forgive me if I already posted this elsewhere; I thought I did but I can't find it!:blush5:

I have various data rattling around in my skull re. AFR and they don't seem to add up. They are:
1. The ideal stoichiomtric air/gasoline ratio is 14.7:1.
2. FFSC Miatas should be tuned to 11:1-12:1 AFR. As high as 13:1 will melt pistons.

Now, if #1 is true, then wouldn't the best approach be to use a tailpipe sniffer and simply adjust for 14.7:1 under all conditions?

Are these low AFRs of 11:1-12:1 being read off the ECU which is being "fooled" into thinking rich because it can't keep up with what the MAF is telling it under boost but the PC Pro and Ecool are taking care of adding the extra fuel?

But I get the idea that the 11:1 AFR is being recommended by guys reading from their wideband sensors, which should read just like a tailpipe sniffer. So I suspect something is awry with my thinking - what?

I found my 1st post with a bunch of helpful responses.
