I just finished up my EBC GreenStuff brake pads. They worked well but had to be warmed up before they bite well. I just ordered new EBC RedStuff pads from autopartswarehouse.com for $128 total. Best price I've seen for them.
I'm curious, which brake pads do you use for street / auto-x / track days?

I'm currently running the old version of the Cobalt GT-Sports. Pretty good bite when cold, though they are more of an autocross/street pad. They handle the heat well at the track, only notices a slight bit of fade after back to back sessions (~40 mins).
I'm thinking about trying out Carbotechs next. They seem to be a big hit with the spec miata crowd.

I switched from the Portfield R4S pads to Carbotech AX6s and the stopping power is dramatically different. The AX6 pads will lock up my street tires (Eagle F1s) very easily. They are just about perfect for autocross. If I were to do a track day I would try the XP10s or XP12s.
The AX6's do squeal a bit when coming to a complete stop and they dust a little more than the R4S's , but it hoses off easily.
At Sunday's autocross we had a very fast finish and were required to come to a complete stop within a certain distance. A lot of cars had trouble but I had no problems coming to a nice controlled stop.
If you hate noise and dust get the R4S pads. They are a very good street/AutoX pad.
If you don't mind a little noise, more dusting and excellent bite, get the AX6s for street/autoX.

I liked the low dusting and quiet braking of the EBCs. A friend of mine bought the Hawk brakes and hated the constant squeal and high dusting.

I have the Hawk HPS pads and could not be happier. They are quiet, dustless and work great. Of course, it is a street pad, not a track pad.

I have the Axxis Ultimates on OEM rotors. They do dust a lot more than OEM pads, but the increased stopping power over stock is worth it. Next year though I'll have almost 90,000 miles on the Miata so I'll probably be looking at the Carbotech rotors and pads.

An update on the Red Stuff. They suck! I had one pad crumble on the backing plate on the track, not fun. :(
Now running Carbotech XP8/XP10s. :gunsmilie: They rock!

The best pads I have used for the money. I do not track this car.

Hawk HPS. A great compromise for street and auto-x.

I totally agree, Carbotech is the way to go! (for a track car)
I'm running xp10/xp8 and love them, perfect for the track.
