Raptor shift light has 3 wires:
1) Black to ground
2) Red to switched +12 V
3) Green to tach output or switched (negative) side of the ignition coil

How do I hook this up? Under hood or under dash?

My 2002 Miata is supercharged with a PowerCardPro in a FastForward Superchargers "plug-n-play" wiring harness under the dash so I think most wires are under there somewhere and that I could tap (solder) on to the factory wires on one side or the other of the male and female factory plugs which were separated and into which the FFS plug-n-play harness with PCPro box was inserted. I know absolutely nothing about this and hire professionals to do this work but today 2 techs at the Mazda dealer would not do it for fear of frying the PCM if they accidentially grounded the PCM by using a wrong wire.

Surely somone is using a Raptor on a Miata! I would be grateful for some instruction. Thanks.

Lee, If it is inside the car, you should use the PC-Pro harness.

Connect red to the PC-Pro red. Black to the PC-Pro Black and the green to pin 3V. That should do it. Set the switches accordingly. I set it to trip at 6500 if I recall. That was to give my rain a head start. I typically end up shifting at 7000 but I am slow. That's why 13.8 is the best I've done. :)

I also had success using a TurboXS shift/knock light and I used 3v as Tom suggested. I tapped into the stock wiring harness with a vampire tap and have had no problems. I also have the shift light set to 6500 RPM. But I rarely follow the suggestion.

AWESOME INFO - I've got a DataTool Revlight that I've been putting off because I've been too busy (and lazy) to look up the wiring pin. THANKS.

Thanks.

snakebit told me to use 3Z (lower left of 9 pin harness -- center of this chart)

there is no 3V on the chart he sent me -- I have NOT looked behind the dash yet so I do not know what is there

why is there a difference in the pin outs? why is there no 3V?

There is a 3V on the pinout you linked. it is color GY/L.

LeeWell, I am definitely confused by the 01-05 pinout diagram. Now it looks to me that the crank signal pin is the beige one marked V/W. Isn't G/YL the cam pin?:online2long:

The crank pin works for my Knocklite on my 99.

I agree with Tom on the 12V and ground wires: tap into the PC Pro harness, much easier and neater than looking for other under-dash sources.

You can use either cam or crank. The crank is simply twice the pulses of the cam. If you have 2x the number put the cylinder switch on 8. if 4 cylinder comes up half th3 pulses, put the switch on 2 cylinder. IOW, use either one.
